Caroline and Jesse say goodbye Caroline Torti, Jesse Catibog, Host Leah Miller (courtesy of CTV) Receiving the lowest number of votes this week following last night’s country-wide poll were LISA Auguste, 27 and VINCENT Noiseux, 22, who performed a Samba routine; LARA Smythe, 25, and MILES Faber, 21, who performed a West Coast Swing routine and CAROLINE Torti, 23, and JESSE Catibog, 29,who danced a Hustle routine. All the competitors had one last chance to show the judges why they should stay in the competition as they “danced for their lives.” After performing their solos, the judges deliberated and decided that CAROLINE Torti from Oakville and JESSE Catibog from Toronto would be sent home.
The results show opened with the Top 14 performing a Halloween-themed group number choreographed by Melissa Williams. Red fabric and smoke billowed across the stage as the competitors performed as vampires to “Dragula” by Rob Zombie.
Next week, judges Tré Armstrong and Jean Marc Genereux will be joined by guest judges, and resident SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA choreographers, Melissa Williams and Sean Cheesman.
Windsor, ON native Williams has worked with numerous artists, actors and directors in the industry including Prince, George Michael, Bryan Adams and Carmen Electra, and has choreographed and performed in television and feature films including Hairspray, American Pie and Batman & Robin. Over the past few years Williams and her company, DM Creative, have choreographed and musically staged live productions around the world including Grease The Musical, HAIR The Musical, STORM, Generations, Bon Voyage, Piano Man and Undercover. Keeping her finger on the pulse, Williams continues to push the envelope in every direction of her creativity.
Calgary’s Sean Cheesman is an internationally-renowned director/choreographer who has worked with some of the world’s top entertainers including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, TLC, Prince, Vanessa Williams, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah and Britney Spears. Cheesman has toured with Janet Jackson as a choreographer and dancer as well as choreographing tours for Prince. Cheesman appeared in and choreographed the film The Bodyguard and most recently was the host and lead judge of the U.K. television series DIRTY DANCING: TIME OF YOUR LIFE. Cheeseman has also won two MTV awards for choreography and was nominated for a Bob Fosse choreography award.
