Daughtry will debut “No Surprise,” the first single from the band’s second album, during the Wednesday, May 6 episode of American Idol. It is the first track from their 19 Recordings/RCA July 14 release. Daughtry is currently in the studio finishing the yet to be titled album, which follows the band’s GRAMMY-nominated, quadruple-platinum debut. 

TO PERFORM WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8TH, ON FOX NASHVILLE, TN -- Kellie Pickler will return to the AMERICAN IDOL stage, to perform her hit single, “Best Days of Your Life,” which she co-wrote with pal Taylor Swift, on the results show Wednesday, April 8 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. 

Since its debut in 2002, "American Idol" has become a cultural institution. Its longevity is impressive but nowhere near the continuity of the Grand Ole Opry, which has held sway on Nashville radio since 1925.

 

Next week, the two all-American titles will join forces as "Idol" uses an Opry theme, requiring contestants to sing a song made famous by an Opry member. Tying it all together, current Opry stars Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis will perform on the show from Los Angeles’ Kodak Theatre on Wednesday.
