| Kenny Chesney - Greatest Hits 2 (2009) |
He’s the biggest ticket-seller in North America in any genre of the 21st century. He’s the 4-straight and reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year and 4-time and current Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year. He has sold in excess of 25 million records – and since 2001 been the soundtrack of summer for a whole generation of young Americans coming of age. So the only question about Kenny Chesney’s second Greatest Hits is “What took so long?” Look for Greatest Hits: Vol 2 to arrive in-stores on May 19th. In addition to a dozen of his biggest hits, the package will include “Be As You Are” from his intimate Songs From An Old Blue Chair, his Dave Matthews duet “I’m Alive” from Blue Chair’s book-end Lucky Old Sun and “Out Last Night,” a brand new song written with Brett James over Christmas vacation “It’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years since we released ‘Young’,” marvels the man from Luttrell, Tennessee. “There has been so many memories, so much magic, so much great music… It all just keeps happening and you’re loving every moment of it, and not keeping score. When I realized all the songs that weren’t gonna make it that were hits, that’s when it hit me how much music me and the guys have made since the first Greatest Hits.” Along with the Matthews duet, Chesney’s collaborations with Uncle Kracker “When The Sun Goes Down” and his most recent #1 with Mac McAnally “Down The Road” will flesh out the special guest appearances. Filling out the project will be “Living In Fast Forward,” “Young,” “Summertime,” “Beer In Mexico,” “There Goes My Life,” “Anything But Mine, “I Go Back,” “Never Wanted Nothing More,” “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems” and the Academy of Country Music Single of the Year “The Good Stuff.” “We’ve been all kinds of places musically,” Chesney admits with a laugh. “And it was a little hard knowing how to pull it all together. In the end, I think we wanted to reflect what we’ve sorta become known for. I think if this music has been about anything, it’s been about having fun, loving where you are in your life and recognizing how special the moments you share with your friends are. “When we’re out on the road, it’s all about having a good time…. It’s all about forgetting the stuff that’s getting you down and remembering it’s the little things that really make your life worthwhile. Maybe it’s not some big, blown-up deal or larger than life experience, but I gotta tell you I’ve been just about everywhere and done things I would’ve never dreamed of, and there’s still nothing more precious to me than hanging out with my friends, laughing about nothing and watching the sun move across the sky or singing every song we know in some little dive bar somewhere!” Currently in the middle of his commando Keg in the Closet Tour, Chesney is waist deep in rehearsals for his Corona Extra sponsored Sun City Carnival Tour with Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum on all dates and special guests Sugarland and Montgomery Gentry on the stadiums. |
