AYTON, ON, - The place to be to welcome the summer solstice weekend with the ultimate in music, food and festivities is the picturesque River Place Park Campground in Ayton, Ontario. Platinum selling artist Johnny Reid recently announced the 1st annual "Saugeen Summer Nights Festival", taking place on Saturday, June 20th, 2009. "I am excited to take part in this innovative festival with some of Canada's most talented musicians, in one of the most beautiful parts of Ontario!" said Reid en route to a Manitoba tour date.
Some of the artists joining Reid at the festival are: all-time-favourite Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo), pop-roots troubadour Serena Ryder, and beloved roots hero Corb Lund who says "I'm excited to play the festival...It's some pretty country out that way and it's extra fun to play on a stage with a big old view to look at!" And just announced, multi-Grammy winner and this year's Juno recipient of "Producer of the Year", the esteemed Daniel Lanois will be joining the line-up with his prestigious band including drummer Brian Blade. Patrons will also enjoy local organic produce and gourmet food booths, clean and comfortable camping and a gorgeous, eco-friendly environment set amidst rolling hills and the beautiful Saugeen Rivers known for their great fishing and canoeing.
"We wanted to create a family event that features incredibly high-quality entertainment that would please a broad fan base and I think we have achieved that," stated a spokesperson for River Place Park. "We will have the perfect community celebration with its own unique vibe and special energy."
