After Brutal Weather @ Pizza Hut Stadium, Chesney Returns for 5/17 Show
Dallas: It takes some pretty substantial conditions to make Kenny Chesney leave the stage - and when it's somewhere as close to his heart as Dallas, Texas, sometimes it's about giving people the show you want rather than the best you can under the circumstances. To that end, the high energy entertainer from Luttrell, Tennessee has been working with everyone involved to “be able to do Dallas the way I really want to: hitting it hard and having the kind of party I know they came to have.”
With that pronouncement, Chesney has announced he will perform a May 17th show at Pizza Hut Stadium - with ticket stubs serving as entrance to what will be a General Admission Show. Given Chesney's wish to resolve this as quickly as possible - and get back into the marketplace - details are still being resolved, but the 4-consecutive Academy of Country Music and 4-time and reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year wanted to let his fans know he was returning.
“These stadium shows are always one of the highlights of our touring year,” explains the man who's sold over a million tickets each of the past seven summers, “and you want to be able to really make this the party of the summer! I was bummed about the weather - and when you're onstage in it, looking at well over 20,000 who aren't leaving, who want to stay and hear the music - you know what kind of heart those fans have…
“So, to me - with the help of everyone involved who's working with us to make this happen - I'm gonna come back to Dallas and play it the way I wanted to do this show the first time. Let people come and tailgate, have fun with their friends and really get their rock on with us! I'm lucky to have fans who give us as much as ours do - and I want them to know how much that means to us.”
In the interest of letting people know that Chesney would be returning to Dallas on May 17th in the timeliest manner possible, details will be available at www.KennyChesney.com and local Dallas/Fort Worth country radio stations.
“We've extended the invitation to everybody who was on the bill Saturday,” says the man helming the Sun City Carnival, “and we're waiting to see who might be available… When we know, we'll be able to very quick let everybody know down there. For me, though, right now, it's about me and my fans - and us getting together again to do what we started, the way that Dallas deserves.”
Having just headlined the massive Stage Coach Festival in Indio, California and played the Grand Opening Weekend of the Joint at the Hard Rock Las Vegas, Chesney will make it a three night run, rolling from Shreveport, LA to Little Rock, Arkansas and back to Dallas/Fort Worth. With an “Austin City Limits” taping on May 12 and a “Late Night with David Letterman” appearance to coincide with the release of Greatest Hits II, Chesney's already full schedule just got a little busier… but right the way, he wants it.
