The sisters with Todd Fritsch (IFCO - 2007)
Loretta __ Medical Update:
As most of you already know, Loretta's multiple myleoma (bone marrow cancer) level took an unexpected jump UP in February. Also, that dealing with the heavy schedule of doctors' appointments, medical tests, blood transfusions and more, prompted re-scheduling and venue change for IFCO's annual Fun Fest Show.
Her doctor at Baptist immediately revved-up treatment (consulting with her doctor at Vanderbilt (where she underwent blood stem cell transplant in 2002, using her stem cells) and, as he said "throwing the whole arsenal" at her. Several of the new drugs, all introduced together, triggered severe reactions and serious side effects. All the new drugs have since been discontinued. As of now, the doctor has offered no optional chemo. He did re-schedule Dexamethasone (steroid) dosage. Also mentioned the probability of referrals to other doctors/medical centers. Although he has not yet scheduled either referral appointment (expect it will be soon), we are aware that at least one will likely be outside the state of Tennessee.
She is feeling pretty well... other than added stress and nerve-pain associated with shingles, which she's had since 2005. She is back walking one mile on the treadmill most every day since they've eliminated daily leukine shots and other drugs which caused severe reactions, including loss of muscle control and mobility.
Without inundating you with medical terminology and drug names that most of us never heard of, certainly knew nothing about, will say the past few months have been extremely tough! But for us, discontinuing the battle is not an option.
You can imagine doctor/hospital bills are stacking up. Have had no chance to do anything since May as far as the eBay auction to benefit Loretta's Medical Fund. We do have a few very nice items, including a guitar and great "Brag About" Satchel, both signed by artists on this year's Fun Fest Show, plus a beautiful Paul Stanley (of KISS) Sovereign Special Electric Guitar. We do hope to have new auction items online at the end of this week.
